SHOPPERS in Lancaster will have a chance to try their hand at milking a cow on Saturday...
But there will be no odd odours to contend with and no chance of being kicked by this particular animal - the National Farmers' Union's Daisy.
The model animal is part of a display visiting Lancaster Market to prove that the historic city does not have a modern 'clone' high street but has distinctive style of its own.
Market manager Dennis Allday says: "This is a great opportunity for people to find out that Lancaster actually has a very varied and diverse choice to offer shoppers.
"The indoor market typifies this diversity and if we can provide a bit of fun as well, then great.
"Sadly because of the convenience of supermarket shopping, many people have either forgotten or never experienced the sights, sounds, smells and characters that make up a traditional British market."
As well as Daisy, there are also competitions for adults and children - with a portable DVD player among the prizes - and all proceeds from the day will be donated to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute.
