BRITAIN'S pensioners are the poorest in Europe because our State pension is only £82 per week.
Link-Age are the only UK-wide non-party political pensions pressure group calling for British State pensions to be on a par with European levels which are three to four times higher, examples are German single pensioners receive £267.15 per week, the French £205.50 and Italians £341.13
Link-Age have a manifesto campaign for UK State pensions for single pensioners to be uprated to £250 per week -- the European average -- and with a relevant increase for couples.
Our manifesto is also calling for the abolition of the council tax, the abolition of taxing pensioners income and savings, and an increase in the income tax threshold, because UK pensioners should also be exempt from all forms of taxation after paying taxes all their working lives.
Our manifesto has to be sent to MPs at the House of Commons, and to make inquiries about receiving a "free" copy of our manifesto, people can ring Michael Thompson, founder of Link-Age on 01803 857020 after 6.30pm any evening.
MICHAEL THOMPSON.
