A MAN has appeared in court following the death of a teenager in Bolton-le-Sands.
Luke Arthur Pedley, of Foundry Gardens, Carnforth, appeared before Lancaster magistrates last Thursday after it was alleged he knocked down 14-year-old Michael Gale.
Pedley, 24, is charged with driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident, using an uninsured vehicle, using a vehicle without a test certificate and using a vehicle with defective brakes.
He was arrested by police after the youngster was knocked over on Coastal Road in Hest Bank on February 24.
Michael had been walking with exchange.student Sascha Berlinke close to the junction with Madison Avenue when the incident happened.
The pair were heading back to Michael's home from Ripley St Thomas school. Michael died later at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The case was adjourned until August 18 and Pedley was granted unconditional bail.
