MAGNIFICENT Morecambe surged into third spot in the Surridge Northern Cricket League with a stunning and well deserved win over Fleetwood at Woodhill Lane.
The locals are currently in top form with confidence oozing from every player - and against a hit or miss Fleetwood outfit, there was only ever going to be one outcome.
And while all the team hit form the man leading the way on an amazing winning sequence (nine wins from 10 games in all competitions) is professional Mark Orchard.
The Kiwi is known as a class act but seemed to struggle in the early part of the season.
But now his is starring and Morecambe will miss him in the last four games of the season when he returns to New Zealand for an operation.
Orchard stormed through the Fleetwood top order with John Wright, James Ellis and Adam Sharrocks all falling victim to Orchard's excellent line and length.
And when Fleetwood pro Doug Watson unwisely tried to pull Orchard to the boundary, Richard Cupit took a smart catch at mid-wicket.
If the Orchard assault was too much for Fleetwood, things only got worse when Gareth Pedder started to bowl.
Wayne Clarke and Rob Clark started to steady the ship - but Pedder skittled both of them and also sent Andrew Clough and Adam Breakell back to the pavilion for ducks.
Orchard bowled Steve Hill for one before Pedder wrapped up the innings when David Fish was caught by young James Whincup.
That left Fleetwood 111 all-out in just 32.5 overs with Orchard (5-28) and Pedder (5-15) stealing the show.
Pedder, in particular, impressed with a hostile spell that bodes well for the rest of the season.
That target seemed a long way off when Mark Woodhead departed for just seven and Malibonque Mateka also went back for 16.
But Orchard batted brilliantly and got good support from Phil Dennison (14) and Tommy Clough (15).
Clough went with the scores level leaving Whincup to hit the winning runs - and leave Orchard unbeaten on 52.
"I am really happy with the lads at the moment," says skipper Dennison.
"Everyone is doing a job and we are playing with confidence.
"We have won five league games on the trot now and at this moment in time we fear no-one."
