SHOPPERS are being urged to be vigilant after a series of women had purses snatched in Lancaster town centre.
Police say thieves have unzipped bags and reached in for the purses - usually targetting the elderly and the vulnerable.
Incidents have been reported between 11am and 1pm in big stores and at Lancaster bus station.
PC Carl Wood says: "We would like anyone who has had their purse taken and has not reported it to police to do so. We also want people to look out for discarded bags or purses, particularly in the bus station. If they do find something, they should contact police."
