7PM Tuesday evening and I'm just settling down for a well-earned beer.
The dreaded mobile goes off. A few minutes later, it rings again. Five minutes after answering that call, the phone screams at me once more.
On the other end of the line are different people all with the same excited voice and imparting the same piece of information: "Have you heard? Roy Keane is playing against Rossendale United tonight!"
Keane was mobbed at Dark Lane by youngsters eager to get the autograph of one of the Premiership's greatest players.
He graciously signed every one, chatting away to most of the kids before disappearing down the tunnel. For most of those fans, he had made their summer.
They were the lucky ones. The rest of the Manchester United squad were busy playing in the Far East that night, helping the club rake in millions. Chelsea are in America. Bolton, Everton and Man City are just coming back from Bangkok.
What about their young fans who have waited all summer to catch a glimpse of their heroes?
They don't seem to matter because they don't have buckets of money to pump into the club. The big clubs chase the dollar all summer and then complain about players being knackered come March.
