I am writing to express my horror at the proposed Trafalgar Square in Nelson.
Nelson is a multi-cultural town, why should we be forever looking backwards? Do we really want to glorify war? Surely a peace square would be more sensible, like the Burnley peace gardens.
The town had a large number of pacifists during World War Two. We had a group called Comradeship who thought mankind was one great brotherhood.
Surely today Nelson should be thinking of the future and considering its population of today. Let's have a vision of peace and harmony. A Nelson column is a dreadful idea.
