I HAVE to take issue with Tricia Hartley (LET, July 16). I am sure the Blackburn workforce development team are doing a great job, but so are many similar organisations in other parts of the country.
If the council were to send to London every person who, in their eyes, had done a good job, most of us, the council tax paying public, would think that the council was being over generous with our money.
But my real concern is Tricia Hartley suggesting that the Telegraph should demonstrate greater pride in the success of Blackburn Council and try to be less critical. Well there's a laugh!
The Telegraph has demonstrated over the years a great pride in the successes that have taken place in Blackburn.
But the Telegraph is also our watchdog. It is the only quality newspaper in the area that gives us proper balanced and reliable information, particularly on local affairs.
its integrity must not be compromised by anything or anyone.
We need the Telegraph just as it is -- a champion of the people. Long may it continue.
