DOCTORS, nurses, hospital porters and even budget managers from across the North West will compete in a series of outdoor challenges near Lancaster this weekend.
The medics will converge on the Army's Halton training camp to be put through their paces by members of the Territorial Army.
They will take each other on in Army style team building exercises that include orienteering and military command tasks.
The winning hospital team will be named as the 'Greater Manchester Mini Inter Hospital Challenge' champions.
But the event is about more than simply competing for a title, say organisers from the TA's Manchester 207 Field Hospital.
It aims to bring NHS staff closer together and forge links with the TA by showing health workers what the TA medical services have to offer in terms of leadership, initiative, team spirit, self confidence and fitness.
The event takes place from Friday to Sunday, with the two highest scoring teams winning through to national finals in September.
