A WEEK-LONG roadshow has been organised to help sort out confusion over Pendle's new recycling and waste collection system.
The event, which runs from Monday to Friday next week at Asda in Colne, comes as many Pendle people are getting to grips with the borough's new recycling and waste collections.
The scheme, introduced earlier this year, saw the borough switch to a system of waste collection one week and recyclable material the next.
A similar system in Burnley caused the council to be flooded with complaints.
Coun John David, Executive Member for the Environment, said: "Pendle has set itself an ambitious target of recycling 36 per cent of the borough's waste by the end of March 2006 because we think local people can do it.
"Most residents are getting the hang of the new collections, four weeks into the new service and we are very encouraged.
"However, some residents are still experiencing difficulties and we are working hard to put these right.
"Our information display in the store next week will be helpful to anyone who still has questions they need answering."
A display packed with information about the scheme such as what goes in which box or bag and when collections are for each will be staffed by representatives from the council for four hours each day.
Anyone who wants an extra green box or who needs help putting their bins out for collection can also pick up a form to request it.
Ada colleagues will also be on hand with advice about recycling.
The Big Recycle event offers shoppers the chance to win a hamper filled with recycled and organic products.
Diane Springthorpe, events organiser at Colne Asda, said : "Everyone at Ada is really enthusiastic. It's all about increasing shoppers' awareness of recycling and the benefits that means to the environment.
"One of Asda's challenges during Big Recycle Week is to encourage shoppers to bring used carrier bags -- not just Asda ones -- into stores, to be recycled. We aim to collect 283 million bags nationally over the week."
