I WISH to thank the Lancaster district community safety partnership for helping me to get cash for extra street lights to be installed as per the wishes of local people.
The partnership approached me some time ago asking if there were any vulnerable areas in the Soctforth West ward which would benfit from more lighting.
I put out a consultation letter in areas of Scotforth and Bowerham, asking if there were any 'bids'for lighting - and was pleased with the response.
Residents asked for help at the lower end of Belle Vue Terrace, a walkway on Greaves Road where the present lights are obscured by trees, and on one side of Wellington Road, Bowerham.
I am delighted now to be able to tell residents that both these bids have been accepted.
Lancashire County Council will fund the project and Lancaster City council enginners will start the installation work soon.
I hope that we can look at the needs of other vulnerable areas when further funds are available to bid for.
Cllr Sheila Denwood, Lancaster
