LANCASTER City got through a testing opening pre-season friendly, beating a tough Kirkham and Wesham side 2-1.
The Dolly Blues battled through to edge a game, which saw a Kirkham striker break his leg in two places at the less than impressive surroundings of Lytham YMCA.
The pitch was rock-solid and bumpy, while entry to the dressing rooms involved a walk through the ladies toilets.
But Phil Wilson's men took on a professional approach and bossed the early ptoceedings.
They went in front thanks to a smart overhead kick from Chris Thompson - could it be a new Thierry Thommo? - before Kirkham's pressure won them an equaliser.
But City won the game thanks to a gem of a strike from young Alex Taylor.
Taylor, a striker released by Burnley after finding his Turf Moor chances limited, controlled the ball beautifully before picking his spot and shooting home from 20-yards.
City could easily have extended their lead as goalkeeper Ryan Yeomans became a virtual spectator for the remainder of the game.
Lancaster City: Yeomans, Mahoney, Scott, Sparrow, Howson, Swan, Dawes, Skinner, Rogan, Sullivan, Thompson. Subs (all used): Bauress, Uberschar, Elderton, Clark, Taylor, Ariel.
