DEAR MASSI,I am a 17-year-old girl from Nelson. I always read Dear Massi every month but I have never written in about my problem.
But now I am so sick of my problem that I had to write in.
I am extremely overweight and I desperately need some help.
I have tried most of the diets but they dont work or I give up. I am sick of everyone telling me to lose weight.
I was not that bothered but I am really concerned now. I dont feel like going out and if someone is looking at me I feel even fatter.
I am sick of people calling me fat, fatty ,or what ever else. I have also been feeling suicidal lately.

MASSI SAYS,
Some people think losing weight is easy but this is not always the case.
You are obviously trying very hard and feel frustrated by other people's comments and attitudes. I encourage you to speak to your doctor or nurse in confidence, about how you feel and they will be able to offer you support.
Many diets shown on TV and magazines can help you to lose a bit of weight but it may not stay off once you go back to your normal eating habits.
Change your diet to include more wholegrain foods, vegetables, fruit and remove as much fat from it as possible. The other most important aspect is exercise, walking, aerobics, dancing, skipping, whatever takes your fancy. This will help keep the weight off.
Remember to get the support from your family and friends because this will encourage you to continue and speak to your GP about how you feel.
Dont ever think you are on your own. There are thousands of people who go through this same experience in one way or another and remember help is available.
