A 21-year man seriously injured after a brick was hurled through the window of a car he was travelling in has been released from hospital.
Rizwaan Atcha has astounded doctors after recovering from life-threatening head injuries in less than two weeks.
The call centre worker has been discharged from a specialist head injuries unit at Royal Preston Hospital after a string of complex operations. He was in intensive care for five days after a brick was thrown through the window of a Toyota Celica which was being driven by a friend on Quebec Street in Bolton on June 16. He is presently at home recovering.
His mother, Shaieda, said: "Everybody has been absolutely amazed at how quickly he has recovered.
"His injuries were terrible and we thought he was going to die but he is a very strong young man and he has made a great recovery.
"He has senses intact and he is having therapy to help his speech improve."
Nineteen-year old Ghulam Umar Farooq, of Great Lever, has appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court charged with wounding.
He has been remanded in custody until September 2, when he will appear at Bolton Crown Court.
