WHO in their right mind would ever dream up something as ridiculous as a Northern link road for Lancaster?
The anwer, as far as I can see, is a newt lover who has never been to the area and lives miles away. What a joke.
Who's to say that if we look hard enough we won't find newts - or maybe bats, another protected species - on their proposed, idiotic by-pass route.
If these things are so important surely it is not beyond the wit of man to do something about it, like building around them or moving them. Heck, let's kidnap the newts, anything to make some progress.
Somebody should send out a ballot paper asking all the people of the area to write down their main reasons for or against the two proposed link road routes.
The list of answers could be printed in the paper or, better still, posted on billboards around the Lancaster one-way system so the Northern route supporters can be reminded of their choice every time they sit in traffic jams in and around Lancaster.
