YOUNGSTERS who go on an end-of-term booze-up should not expect kid glove treatment from local police - far from it.
Bobbies are to adopt a 'zero tolerance' approach to dealing with teenagers going out to celebrate finishing school.
Sgt Dal Dawkins says pupils have used the end of term as an excuse to get drunk and engage in anti-social behaviour in the past.
But any such behaviour will not be tolerated this summer.
He warns: "We would remind pupils that we will be closely monitoring their behaviour both on the days that they finish and in the weeks during the summer holidays".
The latest tool in the armoury of police is the penalty notice for disorder for teenagers, which allows officers to impose on-the-spot fines.
They will be utilised when necessary, says Sgt Dawkins.
