A TORRISHOLME road will be a sea of orange as protestors gather to create a human 'link'.
Residents have orange tops at the ready for a demonstration this evening (Wednesday) about the detrimental effects the planned Heysham-M6 Northern link road will have.
Members of Transport Solutions for Lancaster and Morecambe are to link up and form a human chain to show how the planned road - 55 feet wide and on a 16 feet high embankment - will look at Broadoak Corner.
"This road will split the community in half," says David Gate, Chair of TSLM. "I have friends and family in Torris but I will be living in Holme! I wonder how much council tax they will pay over there?
"Lancashire County Council knows one of the biggest flaws in the scheme is the fact that Torrisholme will be decimated and they have put back the road's planning application to try to improve their chances of getting the go-ahead.
"But it will be impossible to hide the massive raised dual carriageway, together with the impact on the community and the environment."
He adds: "There are no benefits for the people in this area. All we will get is noise, carbon monoxide and more heavy traffic. We even lose our remaining countryside.
For the amount of money being spent, you would expect a solution to our existing traffic problems not extra ones."
