A Blackpool couple have hit out at 'sick' thieves who stole a memorial to their baby son.
Adam and Carol Ray returned from holiday to discover that a 12ins ceramic model of the character Eeyore, from the Winnie the Pooh cartoons, had been taken from the grave of their son Timothy at Carleton Cemetery.
Timothy died just a few hours after he was born prematurely in February and the couple say they take great consolation from visiting the grave with small toys and fresh flowers.
After returning from their week away, the Adam and Carol were shocked to be told by relatives that thieves had struck.
Dad Adam said: "Obviously our grief has been immense and words cannot describe his loss. My wife and I find some consolation in visiting his small grave.
"My wife is totally distraught and inconsolable. I myself am shocked, sickened and outraged by this violation of our baby's grave.
"It makes me wonder what sort of person could steal from a grave, let alone a baby's grave."
The £25 Eeyore, which was bought from B&Q's is believed to have been taken last Tuesday or Wednesday.
"They must feel very proud of themselves that they have managed to get for free something that only cost £25.
"I cannot imagine what this sick, mindless, worthless piece of trash will do next time to my son's or any other babies' graves down there."
The theft has been reported to police.
