JUDO masters Kevin Kinney, Jack Mountford and Dave Walker have returned from Canada feeling on top of the world.
Tyldesley Judo Club's stunning trio scooped top awards at the World Masters Championships in Toronto.
Club Coach Kevin Kinney was crowned World Masters Champion (85kg) after winning all of his seven matches with a maximum score. Forty-one-years-old Kevin defeated the Russian who beat him in last years semi-final to gain sweet revenge and the gold medal.
Veteran coach, Jack Mountford, aged 66, competing for the first time in this event, won silver by defeating Korean and American opponents before losing narrowly to his Russian counterpart in the final.
Then heavyweight Dave Walker took bronze to complete the Tyldesley clubs haul.
Squad members are already planning an assault on next years Masters Competition in Toures, France, under the guidance of former silver medalist, Frank Jones. Frank, a black belt 6th Dan, hopes the success of the clubs coaches will raise the profile of Judo in the Atherton, Leigh and Tyldesley area and hopes to encourage new members of all ages to participate.
