A PARADE and service will be held in Bury town centre on Sunday to commemorate the end of the Second World War 60 years ago.
War veterans from the Army, Navy and RAF will take pride of place at the front of the parade which sets off from Bury Town Hall at 11.25am, led by the Fusilier Association Band and Corps of Drums.
The borough's cadet units will follow, along with the civic organisations, including the police, fire and ambulance services, scouts and St John Ambulance.
The parade will march along Knowsley Street, Haymarket Street and Market Street to Bury Parish Church for an hour-long service conducted by the Rector of Bury, Dr John Findon.
At 12.45pm, the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Steve Treadgold, will lay a single wreath on behalf of the boroughs residents. He will then by joined by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Colonel John Timmins, and take the salute during a 'March Past'.
