I AM writing about the article on bullying and malicious gossip (LET, June 6).
First I would like to thank the Telegraph for helping to highlight this serious problem in our society and the letter of support from Winnie McKenna.
I would like to recommend a book called Bully In Sight, by Tim Field, which is mostly about workplace bullying but could help anybody who has become a target for bullying or malicious gossip to cope with the silence and denial and abuse on which bullying thrives.
Bullies are by nature control freaks and wish to control their neighbourhood, school, workplace, people in authority, wives, husbands etc.
One of the hardest parts of coming to terms with a bullying experience is understanding how bullies get away with it.
The reasons are people in authority, for example, managers, school teachers, headteachers, parish priests etc., show ignorance, choosing not to see.
I would appeal to people in authority not to turn a blind eye to this vicious problem, otherwise the bullies will get away with it.
