READERS, we are told that the Royal Family cost each and every person in Britain, 61 pence per head, which is meant to sound like they are a bargain.
I totally disagree and firmly believe that their expenditure is both excessive and opulent.
Their wealth is so vast that you or I would find it difficult to comprehend, and it is constantly rising each and every day, yet they insist upon using extravagant and lavish ways of living and travelling at our expense.
At a time when the world is focused upon the poverty of those poor wretches in Africa, the Royals use private jets and helicopters to attend golf tournaments and the like instead of using cheaper options.
Pensioners struggle to live and pay their bills, but these so-called blue-bloods are totally out of touch with reality.
The Government should appoint a person to tell these members of Britain's richest family just how much they should spend (seeing as it is our money) and if they insist upon a more expensive option, then let them pay the difference. Whether you are a fan of the Royals or not, the fact is they are abusing public funds at our expense.
The 61 pence should be given voluntarily and I am sure that a lot of the nation would rather use it to pay their own bills.
ALBERT KING
