BURNLEY'S under-fire director Clive Holt warned today: "My side of the story has yet to be heard."

Holt has kept a diplomatic silence since he was savaged by fellow director Basil Dearing at the AGM.

And the man at the centre of the Turf Moor shares storm has promised supporters he will make a decision over his future early in the New Year.

But speculation is already building that Holt is ready to fight his corner in a bid to gain power at Turf Moor.

Holt, the Clarets' second biggest shareholder, was clearly very shocked after Dearing questioned his motives after writing to small shareholders offering to buy their stakes in the club.

Holt said: "There are always two sides to every debate and story.

"My side has yet to be told."

He added: "I very much regret Mr Dearings' actions.

"I've worked with him for a number of years very successfully and in a friendly and a proper manner.

"This has come as a shock to me. Unfortunately I wasn't aware entirely what he was going to say to the AGM. I'm going to take time to consider and take soundings from all the supporters and shareholders in due course.

"I will make a statement early in the New Year as to what my intentions are.

"I can't expand anymore until I've taken advice."

But Holt immediately received the backing of staunch Colne Clarets spokesman Alan Beecroft.

He said: "I think Clive Holt is very commited to Burnley Football Club.

"I think he is wanting to take the club forward.

"Some people may disagree. But when I go to reserve team, A team and first matches there is always one man who is always present. That man is Clive Holt."

Dearing added: "Clive is not prepared to resign, therefore I'm compelled to tender my resignation.

"I do so with great regret because I've always worked hard for Burnley FC to maintain its reputation, both in this town and throughout the footballing world. I know that I have done nothing wrong."
