NEIL ROBERTS is Leigh Olympic Wrestling Club's Wrestler of the Year.

He took the award at the club's annual prize night, his outstanding record of never being beaten in domestic competition deservedly recognized.

Neil's supreme skill was capped by his selection to represent Great Britain in the world cadets in Hungary under his coach Lenny West.

The McAllister Shield, a new trophy to be awarded annually in the female section, was won by Mellisa Fairclough.

She was crowned British schoolgirl champion in March - Leigh's first girl champion for many a year.

Wrestler of the month Mark Orrell took the Rod Raines Trophy, while Anthony Flannery won the schoolboy wrestler of the month.

Although Anthony has not managed to get in the medals, his attendance and commitment were noted by the committee.
