TWO high-flying British Aerospace engineers have received recognition for their achievements.
Professor David Gardner, deputy managing director of the Lancashire-based military aircraft division, was presented with the Royal Aeronautical Society's gold medal to mark his contribution to the industry, particularly with the Eurofighter 2000 project.
"I am delighted. It is not only a great honour for me, but it is also recognition of the commitment and dedication of all the people involved in the Eurofighter 2000 project," said Professor Gardner.
Ian MacDiarmid, research manager, was also presented with the society's bronze medal to mark his work in the electromagnetics area.
He said: "This award was completely unexpected and a great surprise. The importance of the electromagnetic performance of aircraft has increased during my career to now play a significant part in our world class aircraft design and research capability."
