BURNLEY'S big Division Two clash at Swindon Town tomorrow has fallen victim to the big freeze.

The match was called off after a 10.00 am pitch inspection saw the County Ground pitch iced over following another night of sub-zero temperatures.

And with predictions of further frost and heavy falls snow in Wiltshire over the next 48 hours, Oxford referee Robert Harris reached a rapid decision this morning.

The referee said: "The pitch is completely unsafe and there is just no way the game could have gone ahead.

"There was another very severe frost last night and the surface is rock hard."

No new date has been set for the game. Burnley are next due in league action against Oxford United at Turf Moor on January 1.
