A YOUTH alleged to be on the run from a young offenders' institution has been remanded in custody following an incident in which an Atherton licensee was badly injured.
Jamie Lee Benson, 19, of Freshfield Avenue, Atherton was in Leigh Court with Michael Steven Gavin, 19, of Moorlands Drive, Little Hulton.
Gavin is alleged to have caused grievous bodily harm to Mr Lawrence Morgan, licensee of the Mountain Dew public house, Atherton, after taking a car without consent.
He faces further charges of dangerous driving, driving without insurance and without licence, stealing two cars worth £21,000 and two burglaries involving property worth over £4,000.
He and Benson are also alleged to have conspired to commit robbery.
Benson is charged with escaping from custody at Thorn Cross Young Offenders' Institution, Warrington, burglary, and stealing property worth £3,451, stealing a car worth £6,000 and failing to respond to bail.
