POLICE made the horrific discovery of a man's dismembered body at a block of flats late on Tuesday night.
At the time of the Citizen going to press (Wednesday night), detectives were still questioning a 19-year-old woman about the death of Stephen Clarke, whose body was found in his bedroom at Victoria House in Queens Park, Blackburn.
Dr William Lawler, a Home Office pathologist, revealed through a post-mortem that 35-year-old Mr Clarke had severe injuries to several parts of his body caused by a heavy instrument, possibly a chainsaw or hammer.
Mr Clarke's flat was the only one occupied on the 13th floor and forensic experts scoured the blood-stained scene for clues.
He may have lain dead for 24 hours.
It is believed the woman was a former girlfriend of Mr Clarke and lived at the same address.
She was detained overnight.
