A PRESTON man whose grandmother died of Parkinson's Disease and who's mother is battling the illness is running the London Marathon to raise money for research into the disease.
Adrian Webb, 27, of Todd Lane North, Lostock Hall, Preston, is the first person in the marathon's history to represent the Parkinson's Disease Society and hopes to rake in as much cash as possible.
His wife Jane, 25, a Preston policewoman, is also taking part in the mammoth 26-mile run in aid of cancer charity Quest.
Jane is busy pounding her beat in Bamber Bridge to get fighting fit in time for the UK's biggest running event in April.
Adrian considers himself to be fairly fit, but admits the marathon will be his hardest task yet. He said: "My dad Thomas does a lot of fund-raising for the Parkinson's Disease Society, but they told me no-one has ever run the marathon for them before.
"My mum Eileen has the disease and my grandmother died of it a few years ago. I want to raise as much money as I can for the charity."
Anyone wanting to sponsor Adrian can write to the Preston and District branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society, 213 Browedge Road, Bamber Bridge, PR5 6UT.
