CRICKETING boundaries in Bury have been widened thanks to a new cash sponsorship deal. Fourways Foods, which has supermarkets in Holcombe Brook and Unsworth, have come forward with financial support which - tied in with the Government's Business Incentive Scheme for Sport, Sportsmatch - has allowed the figure to be doubled.
Over the coming months a plan devised by the Cricket Development Group representing primary and high schools as well as coaches, clubs, the Leisure Services Department and the National Cricket Association will become fully active to rapidly expand the sport in the Borough.
The latest investment will go into a primary schools coaching programme which forms part of the forward-looking two year Cricket Development Plan.
Top coaches will be able to get into 18 local primary schools and it is expected that cricket competitions will increase at regional and local level.
