WARRIORS under-8s were beaten 46-36 at Ince St Williams in a close end-to-end game of rugby. Austin Christy played well in his first match. Tries were by William Key, Daniel Armstrong and Chris Tuson. Conversions were scored by Ben Balch, William Key, Daniel Armstrong and James Lloyd.
An away match at Woolston saw Warriors U9s run out of time before they could catch up, losing the game 22-46. Man of the match Greg Johnstone converted and scored a try, the other conversion from Gary Dolan. Paul Warren, the player of distinction, scored the other try and Daniel Fletcher was best tackler.
A Win for the depleted U10s team showed their effort and determination as Warriors triumphed 40-30 against Woolston. Lee Parkinson did well, while tries were scored by Stuart Brown, Andrew Bennett, Andrew Smith, Elliott Saul, Dean Taylor, James Franklin and Wes Loram, who also converted four tries along with two by Elliott Saul.
In a close encounter with Woolston the U11s lost 30-34 to a last minute try. Tries were scored by Stuart Duckworth, Jonathan Tuson, Daniel Marrinan, Lee Beattie and Paul Lorenzen -also voted man of the match. Conversions by Johnny Cookson, Lee Beattie (2) and Daniel Marrinan (2). Best tackler was Jonathan Edwards.
Warriors U12s put in an improved away performance against the polished skills of Woolston. Although failing to get onto the scoresheet, the newly strengthened squad showed their skills in both defence and attack. Man of the match Alex Gill led the backs with an outstanding performance, while hard-working William Fell was top tackler as he led the forwards. Debut player Daniel Sumner also showed well. Final score: Woolston 30, Warriors 0.
The U13s played host to Widnes Tigers in a hard-fought game with both sides displaying excellent rugby skills. The Warriors' stamina dwindled towards the end - the lads had played two hard games in 24 hours. The try was scored by Danny Wright and converted by Ian Schofield. Michael Smith was voted the man of the match.
The U16s had a good result at Blackpool Stanley, winning 17-14. A close match with both teams displaying defensive skills and commitment. Tries by Martin Baxter, Stephen Hart and Stephen Charnley, who also scored a drop goal and converted two of the tries.
