DOCTORS were today fighting to save the sight of a lorry driver's eye.
Gary Postle, 38, of Arthur Street, Clayton-le-Moors, is "critical but stable" in Manchester's Hope Hospital with head and chest injuries, broken ribs and badly cut arm and leg. He has not regained conciousness since an accident 10 days ago.
His Whitbread's Brewery lorry went out of control on a bend and overturned on the M62 at Salford on January 15 and he was thrown out of the vehicle which hit a wall and a lamp standard.
He and his wife Jacqueline, 35, have a son Daniel, 35, and a daughter Joey, nine.
His wife's brother Keith Metcalf said he had sustained a horrific head injury and sustained severe damage to his left eye. Doctors did not yet know whether he would lose his sight in that eye.
Said Keith:"He is not yet conscious and it's going to be a long job. He has been weaned off a ventilator but is still connected up to it as a precaution.
