IN REGARD to Ribble Valley Tory MP Nigel Evans' remarks about Emma Nicholson's defection to the Lib-Dems, as the saying goes, he would say that, wouldn't he?
Emma Nicholson was a Tory with a humane and understanding outlook. Her help for the Marsh Arabs of Iraq is well known.
She was out of place in the party and government of the wealthy, the greedy and purveyors of umpteen broken promises; the government which would have countenanced the false imprisonment of three innocent businessmen to hide its involvement with arms to Iraq sleeze.
Her "betrayal" of Margaret Thatcher is remarked upon by Mr Evans. It's a pity she did not carry out this "betrayal" much earlier - before that woman ruined the mighty industrial base of this country, with its consequent destabilisation followed by thousands of people whose homes were repossessed while more thousands are trapped in negative equity, and who, even now, can't resist sticking her fingers in the political pie.
Whether Emma Nicholson joined the Lib-Dems or Labour party, matters not. The fact is that she no longer wishes to be associated with this banana-skin, inept government, led by a weak Prime Minister who, wherever he goes, somehow looks awkward and out of place - both he and his party should be out of office.
As they say down under: "Good on yer, Emma."
