IMMEDIATE action to force water companies, including North West Water, to tackle leaks has been called for by Burnley MP Peter Pike.
He has backed a Commons motion expressing alarm at statistics which show that hundreds of thousands of people lost or had their water supplies restricted in the past year because of burst or leaking mains.
He wants the government to immediately instruct water companies to invest substantial extra cash in tackling leakages.
