EAST Lancashire is in for a snowy weekend.
Further outbreaks of snow are expected later today and overnight and strong winds could cause drifting in some areas.
Forecasters at the Manchester weather centre say snow will continue to fall throughout the weekend.
The heaviest falls will be early in the weekend but a light covering is expected on Sunday.
Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing making the weather bitterly cold.
Gritters have already been out on most main roads across the area but drivers are urged to allow themselves extra time for their journeys.
