A STRAY dog has been saved from certain death by a woman who accidentally hit him with her car.
Now Pamela Neary, who has paid £70 in veterinary bills to save the alsatian cross, is looking for a good home for the pup.
Pamela, of Redearth Street, Darwen, was driving down Olive Lane in the town when the adventurous dog strayed into her path.
Before she could stop, her car collided with the dog, shattering one of its legs.
Now vets have set the fractured leg in plaster and the 16-week-old pup is set to make a full recovery after Pamela refused to have him put down. But Pamela, who is on income support, can't afford to keep the dog and has had to make arrangements to pay the bill in instalments.
She said: "He's a lovely dog and really friendly. The vet didn't think there was much hope for him and wanted to put him down.
"But I couldn't let that happen, so I paid the bill and brought him home.
"He's a really gorgeous dog and looks like an alsatian, although he has floppy ears like a spaniel."
Pamela has named the pet Simba, after the Lion King.
Now she is hoping an animal-lover may be able to offer the dog a permanent home.
She said: "There's no doubt he's a stray, he wasn't even wearing a collar and no-one has contacted me trying to trace him."
Anyone who can help, should contact Pamela on Darwen 01254 761584.
