PATIENTS in a stroke unit will now be able to enjoy a competitive game of carpet bowls, thanks to a donation by an East Lancashire club.
Members of the Blackburn West Rotary Club wanted to show their support for the work done on the stroke unit at Park Lee Hospital, Blackburn, after a member of their group and the husband of a member of their sister Inner Wheel group, received treatment on the ward.
"We asked if there was anything we could do for them to help with the therapy and the sisters in charge decided on a carpet bowls set," said Mr Malcolm Haydock, president of Blackburn West.
"It provides them with something competitive and fun and they can even be played from wheelchairs.
"We are also going to help the unit by tending their little garden area when the spring comes."
