A REAL-LIFE fairy godmother has made a dream come true for five-year-old Charlotte Spencer.

She always wanted to be a bridesmaid, but she looked destined never to walk down the aisle until her godmother, Elaine Cunliffe, turned to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph for help.

After an appeal to readers, bride-to-be Fiona Almond, 24, of Newington Avenue, Brownhill, Blackburn, was quickly on the telephone to ask Charlotte to be one of her attendants in September.

Now Charlotte, of Petre Crescent, Rishton, is to have her dream come true when Fiona marries auto-electrician Kevin Lynchehaun, 36, at St Peter's Church, Salesbury. Then the fairy tale will be complete at a reception at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton- le-Moors.

Elaine said: "I can't believe her dream is going to come true and its all because of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. Fiona is wonderful to have her as her bridesmaid. Everybody has been so kind and Charlotte is thrilled to bits."

Fiona, who works in marketing, said Kevin's daughter, Joanne, is also five and is one of her bridesmaids.

She said: "We were worried that she was going to be the only small bridesmaid and on her own.

"Now she will have someone her own age to keep her company."

Barry Tillotson, of Railton Avenue, Blackburn, also asked Charlotte to step into the breach when his daughter, Audrey, weds John Duckworth in March, because they had been left one bridesmaid short when a five-year-old had to pull out.

But Charlotte had already accepted Fiona's offer.
