SWITCHBOARDS were jammed today after a TV news bulletin claimed ambulance services in Burnley were being withdrawn.
"My telephone has been red hot, but it seems someone has made a big mistake. We have a legal duty to provide ambulance cover and it will continue," said East Lancashire's chief ambulanceman, Ron Blackburn. "One back-up ambulance is being withdrawn, but the service will continue."
