A NEW database to help firms find new customers and suppliers is being launched this week.
The ELITE service - East Lancashire Information for Trade and Expansion - has been set up by the economic development units of the six local councils and enterprise agencies.
Funding was secured with help from Lancashire Enterprises through the European Union's KONVER programme, which provides grants to areas heavily dependent on defence-related employment.
The tailor-made database, developed with Burnley ITeC, aims to provide free, up-to-date information on local businesses to help firms source supplies locally and identify customers. The backers hope the database will strengthen the East Lancashire economy and help create new jobs.
The networked database will be accessible through local economic development units and enterprise agencies.
The database will be launched at Burnley Business Centre on Friday when MEPs Mark Hendrick and Mike Hindley will be given a preview.
