CHANGE is in the air for club football in Europe, with a meeting in Geneva next Wednesday amid continuing speculation of a possible breakaway by the biggest clubs.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United will represent the Premier League at the meeting called by UEFA to discuss the future format of their three major competitions. FA chief Graham Kelly will also attend along with three top clubs from each of UEFA's 12 leading associations.
There have been suggestions that, backed by TV money, Europe's biggest clubs could split to form their own continent-wide Super League.
But UEFA are determined to take the lead and quell speculation.
Ewood chairman Robert Coar said the three clubs chosen were probably English football's most experienced in Europe and they will report back to the rest after the meeting.
