ALIEN visitors have been have been checking out life on Earth in the Morecambe Bay area. That's just one explanation for the dozens of sightings of unidentified flying objects reported to Lancaster's UFO network (LUFON) since December. Bright lights and objects shooting silently across the sky at great speed have been witnessed by enthusiasts and members of the public alike around Morecambe in the past few weeks.

And local UFOlogists believe some of the sightings may be of genuine alien crafts.

Tim Mathews of LUFON said: "Several witnesses on our sky watch field trips have reported bright lights hovering overhead and moving much faster than any aircraft.

"And dozens of ordinary people have called us, including one scientist at Heysham power station, saying they have seen them too.

"We have been out at all times of the day and night watching and waiting for these objects to show up - and now we have photos of them."

The pictures, taken from a vantage point at Jubilee Towers by local investigator Steve Meads, show distant silvery objects flashing in the sun, while one night time shot appears to show a craft with port-holes.

Several wild theories have been put forward as to why aliens would be watching the bay, including suggestions that they are monitoring nuclear material at Heysham One. But Tim makes no such claims.

He said: "We need time to study these pictures using computer imaging before we can draw any conclusions. But one thing's for sure - they're not fakes."

Their results will be compiled in a report to be published within the next three months. And these latest findings will be discussed at the Planetary Connections Conference at the Headway Hotel, Morecambe, on Sunday, February 18.

Tim scoffed at suggestions that the pictures were a publicity stunt to attract punters to the conference.

He said: "There's no mileage in trying to invent these things as we will only get shot down by our critics. We have not organised the conference and as far as I know it sold out last week."
