TOP LABOUR officials were to probe the controversial ousting of a leading Labour councillor from the ward seat she had held for eight years. In a shock result, Blackburn Cathedral ward committee dumped Coun Maureen Bateson, a deputy leader of Blackburn Council, who was hoping to contest the seat in the May district elections. Coun Bateson said: "I have received immense support from local people."
