HERE in Malta, our small island has a well-planned water management system to cope with a hot, sunny climate and large influxes of visitors which creates a massive demand for water.
There are no shortages, though. Our well-managed company puts the interest of the water users first, not rich shareholders, and ensures enough water to satisfy every demand. However hot it gets.
Why does not North West Water fill its reservoirs with desalinated water, fresh from the sea? Every time the level of your reservoirs drops to a low point, automated desalination could take place, filling the reservoir and maintaining supply for people to wash cars, water gardens and fill swimming pools.
Perhaps North West Water should get rid of some of its too highly paid directors and bring in Malta's experts to manage the water supply - experts who do not earn or expect to earn an inflated reward, but have a real concern for providing the customers with fresh water.
