A TOP-LEVEL meeting has debated the controversial issue of water fluoridation.
The North West Councils Against Fluoridation invited barrister Dr Paul McCormick to speak at Blackburn Town Hall yesterday.
Councillors and other experts from across the UK also attended the meeting.
A spokeswoman for the campaign group said today that six million people in Britain were being forced to drink fluoridated water.
She said the meeting gave the group the opportunity to discover what options were open to them.
In 1992, North West Water decided not to add fluoride to the water supply, but public health chiefs in East Lancashire are still campaigning for the introduction of water fluoridation.
