IT'S AMAZING that some people are still inclined to believe the old wives' tale that lobsters suffer when placed in boiling water. Lobsters die instantly when dropped in boiling water. The high-pitched screaming sounds heard after a lobster, dead or alive, is placed in boiling water happens to be air being forced from the creature's shell under the pressure of boiling water.
