CHARITIES and good causes have benefited in the will of a Ribble Valley woman.
Miss Margaret Bennett Greenall, who died in November at the age of 88, left estate valued at £147,404 and a large number of antique furniture items which had been family heirlooms.
Miss Greenall had lived all her life in Beech House, Dutton. It had been her parents' home and her grandparents' home before that.
Her grandfather was clerk to the parish council and he was succeeded by her father. Miss Greenall herself became clerk.
She was eventually made chairman of Dutton Parish Council and up to her death was an active member.
Miss Greenall left £5,000 and items of valuable furniture to the National Trust as well as £3,000 to St John's Church at Hurst Green.
Miss Greenall also requested that the sale proceeds of her silver and Sheffield plate be given to the British Diabetic Society and the sale proceeds of her other furniture be given to the British Red Cross.
There was also a bequest to the Council for the Protection of Rural England and donations to the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals, the RNLI and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
