COLLEGE lecturers in Blackburn voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action if any of their jobs are axed as a result of cutbacks.
Bosses announced earlier this year that jobs cuts could be imminent. Part-time lecturing staff have already suffered reduced teaching hours and despite assurances there would be no compulsory redundancies, union members went to ballot.
"From 134 votes cast, 97 voted in favour," explained representative Chris Jenkins. "The Principal assured us there would be no compulsory redundancies. But we know where we stand if any such events should unfold."
