LIKE many people in Leigh who have tripped over projecting flagstones on the pavements in Leigh, I was pleased recently to see the white paint marks indicating that at last something was going to be done about it.
This morning having parked my car in Church Street and walking in the direction of the Post Office, I noticed near the junction of Church Street and Silk Street, that a flagstone which has long been a danger to the public had been given some attention - a word I use advisedly.
No attempt whatsoever had been made to level the flag and it was still a danger to the public, but one side and one corner had been pointed with what would normally be cement; most of it was, in fact sand. You may guess what happened to the cement.
Who is responsible for employing clowns like the man who did the job and who is supposed to supervise such work?
The job will of course have to be done again - more time and money wasted. No wonder council tax continues to increase! What a sad day it was when Wigan took us over!
