A DISABLED table tennis star from Preston is representing Britain in the 1996 International Paralympic Games in America
Lynne Riding, 38, plays the sport from her wheelchair by strapping a bat to her hand. She's only been playing for six years but has already risen to the ranks of international. Lynne is also a keen tennis player and sailor.
Lynne, of Starrgate Drive, is excited about her latest challenge. She said: "I was surprised to be picked but it's a great honour."
Lynne will join eight other players on the British team at the games in Atlanta between August 15-25.
Lynne will first of all be competing in tournaments at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and in the Dublin Games.
She began playing at Southport General's spinal unit and went on to join Preston Multi-Sports for the Disabled and the British Ex-Wheelchair Service Association's table tennis teams.
Lynne is looking for sponsorship to help buy a rigid framed wheelchair. If you can help, call her on 01772 728476.
